Men’s team win

Well done to the Men’s team that won at Wraysbury tonight 7 – 1 in a good match played in a good spirit

The KHTC team was Nick, Tom, Ross and Peter

This extends our unbeaten run to seven games

We have two matches remaining; both re-arranged and both at home:

18th August versus Bagshot

24th August versus Foxhills

Both courts will be used for both matches, weather permitting

Court Closures

Unfortunately the predicted high temperatures this week mean that the courts will have to be closed from 12 o’clock every day this week until Monday 15th August.
Play should be possible early in the mornings and in the evenings after 7 pm by which time the surface should start to cool down.

We are keeping the situation under review and further updates will be provided if these provisional timings need to change.

Courts open

The very hot weather seems to be over for now and so we’re going to suspend our daily bulletins and the courts will generally be open for play. We’ll keep this under review.

Meanwhile, a reminder to protect our new courts. Before playing, please can you check to see if the courts are too hot. The test is if you can comfortably hold the palm of your hand on the court surface for 20 seconds. If you can’t, the courts are at risk of damage and shouldn’t be played on.

Court opening

We’re hoping to be able to keep the courts open all day tomorrow.

To protect our new courts, before playing, please check to see if the courts are too hot. The test is if you can comfortably hold the palm of your hand on the court surface for 20 seconds. If you can’t, the courts are at risk of damage and should not be played on.

Incident at the club yesterday

Committee members are working hard to ensure that our courts are not damaged during this heatwave. On a visit yesterday evening, despite a sign saying the courts were closed, the courts had been used and left in a very poor state, with marks on the court, nets unwound and partly dismantled, empty water bottles discarded on the courts and 6 tins of tennis balls emptied.

Please may we remind everyone to treat our courts with respect, so that, when weather conditions allow, they remain available for everyone to use

Heatwave update

The heatwave is forecast to continue tomorrow. We are therefore closing the courts from 10.30 am for the rest of the day.

Before playing, please can you check to see if the courts are too hot. The test is if you can comfortably hold your hand on the court surface for 20 seconds. If you can’t, the courts are at risk of damage and shouldn’t be played on.

Court update

Unfortunately the courts will be closed all day on Monday and Tuesday this week due to the very high temperatures
which is likely to result in the new court surface softening and being damaged if played on.

The situation will be reviewed again from Wednesday onwards when it may start to be a bit cooler.
